I cannot believe I have not written on this blog since September! This just goes to show how incredibly busy I have been with work for the last month....Wow! It is definitely time for a vacation. Just so happens, I am taking one this weekend. On Thursday, I leave for Washington, D.C., home of our nation's capitol and the Smithsonian museums. YAY! I cannot wait to get out of Alabama and Tennessee for a short while. I am soooo looking forward to some time away from teaching. My brain has been fried this semester by my work load. So, here is good bye for now and wishing all of you, and me, some much needed down time.
I leave you with today's literature fun fact-Part of Lewis Carroll's classic, "Through the Looking Glass," was omitted from the original publication and was only made known to the general public after 107 years of obscurity. The section, which featured a giant wasp wearing a wig, was left out because Carroll's illustrator, John Tenniel, refused to illustrate it. "A wasp in a wig," said Tenniel, "is altogether beyond the appliances of art."
